Medical Coding SME Writer

Summary

The job involves writing articles on medical coding, billing, auditing, and related topics for AAPC's print and web media. The ideal candidate should have five years of non-fiction writing experience, knowledge and writing experience in medical coding, reimbursement, and healthcare, CPC ® or similar AAPC credential preferred, subject matter expertise in coding/billing/auditing/healthcare for pathology and laboratory, strong attention to detail, exceptional writing skills, familiarity with official writing styles, ability to work independently, proficient in Microsoft Word, experience with OneDrive and SharePoint a plus. Education requirement is a coding or billing certification.

Requirements

• Five years writing and editing non-fiction for print or web
• Knowledge and writing experience in medical coding, reimbursement, healthcare required
• Subject matter expertise in coding/billing/auditing/healthcare for pathology and laboratory
• Strong attention to detail
• Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills (written and oral); ability to take and act on constructive criticism
• Familiarity with official writing styles (AP, APA, U of Chicago); ability to follow AAPC style
• Ability to work independently, efficiently and meet deadlines
• Creative and self-motivated
• Proficient in Microsoft Word; experience with OneDrive and SharePoint a plus
• Coding or billing certification required

Responsibilities

• Research, write, and edit content for print and web-based media
• Collaborate with a managing editor
• Ensure on-time delivery of all content
