Summary
Join Tempus as the Director of MSL Clinical Science and lead a team of 15+ MSL Clinical Science professionals across the US, supporting strategic business accounts. In this functional leadership role, you will manage Associate Directors and ensure proactive MSL engagements through physician support, clinical education, and relationship building. You will define, implement, and track team goals aligned with commercial plans, collaborating with Commercial Leaders for strategic alignment. The role involves overseeing various MSL team initiatives, including MD educational support, virtual tumor boards, clinical presentations, and sales training. Significant US travel is required. This position demands a strong scientific background, proven leadership skills, and experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
Requirements
- Possess an Advanced degree in medical, clinical, or science-related field (MD, PharmD, PhD, MS in Biological Science or Clinical Discipline)
- Have a minimum of 3 years in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry with 1 year of MSL team management experience
- Be capable of developing a strategic team business plan
- Be able to set goals in alignment with commercial objectives
- Possess operational skills in tracking team performance
- Demonstrate strategic business problem-solving capabilities within and across functional teams
- Possess effective team leadership and communication skills
- Have strong project management skills
- Possess a strong working knowledge of organizational dynamics
- Demonstrate coaching, mentorship, and career development acumen, including capabilities in providing supportive and corrective feedback to team members
- Be able to present business plans and quarterly updates
- Be capable of abstracting and summarizing key medical insights for presentations and action plans
- Be capable of interpreting and communicating elements of research projects to support research discussions with physician investigators and assist internal presentations and routing of research concepts

Responsibilities
- Manage 2-3 Associate Directors to ensure the field-based team provides proactive MSL engagements through "white glove" physician support, clinical education, and ongoing relationships with key physicians regarding the scientific evidence for Tempus clinical test platforms
- Define, implement, track, and present specific team goals, objectives, and performance measures in alignment with annual and quarterly commercial plans
- Collaborate with Commercial Leaders to ensure the teamβs activities are aligned strategically and tactically with business operational plans
- Oversee MD educational and testing support - "White glove" high touch support to test results; proactive connecting on clinical results in key accounts
- Oversee Virtual Tumor Boards and case reviews, including measures to optimize engagements from accounts
- Oversee Clinical Presentations & Speaker Program support
- Oversee MSL provision of CAE support, including MSL Office Hours
- Oversee MSL support to Sales Pitches to physician groups
- Oversee MSL-led national and regional Sales Training initiatives
- Oversee Product Launch supports
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience within clinical or academic cancer centers systems is preferred to include working understanding of health care provider roles and clinical system infrastructure
- Proven ability to engage with physicians on a peer-to-peer level and develop strong collaborative relationships
