Summary

The job is for an experienced engineer at Chronosphere, a remote-first startup providing an observability platform. The role involves cost management and requires knowledge in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, big data pipelines, data analysis, data visualization, and programming languages. Additional skills are beneficial but not mandatory.

Requirements

• The ability to single-handedly own projects from inception to delivery
• Willingness and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders, understand business needs, and create plans for how to achieve them
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes, with a practical view of how to apply these technologies to achieve business outcomes
• Experience working with big data pipelines, including data transformation (ETL/ELT)
• Experience with data analysis and data visualization, used as tools to achieve a business outcome or answer broadly-scoped questions
• Excellent skills in a programming language such as Go, C++, Java, C#, or Rust. Knowing a specific language isn’t important; what matters is that you’ve become fluent in one by spending a lot of time on the types of projects where these languages are used
• A flexible, collaborative working style

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand their needs
• Build and guide the vision for cloud cost management and prediction for diverse verticals across Chronosphere
• Create and run processes and tooling to continuously monitor, analyze, and report on cloud costs
• Collaborate with and advise other engineering teams on cost-optimization efforts

Preferred Qualifications

• Data engineering, data science, or statistics background
• Experience with machine learning
• Experience with modern orchestration frameworks (e.g. Airflow, Temporal)
• Experience with data warehouses or data lakes, especially in a cloud setting
