Summary

Join Walden University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program as a Faculty Member and contribute to our mission of social change. You will teach and mentor students online using the Canvas platform, providing timely feedback and fostering a supportive learning environment. Responsibilities include course instruction, student interaction, and participation in residencies and other university events. The ideal candidate will possess a doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program, current state licensure, and at least three years of teaching experience at the Master's and/or Doctoral levels. Technological proficiency and a commitment to diversity and social change are essential. Compensation is competitive and varies based on factors such as experience and course type.

Requirements

  • Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
  • Use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat and must have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
  • Be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible in order to teach in specific programs
  • Maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
  • Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program
  • Current state licensure as a Counselor
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching and mentoring Master's and/or Doctoral level students, including directing thesis/dissertation research preferred
  • Ability to provide leadership and mentoring for students in the research process and a strongly student-centered nature
  • Interest in establishing a community of counseling students
  • Ability to provide support in program assessment
  • Ability to assume a significant role in addressing student questions and concerns about the program
  • Experience supervising students in their field training experience
  • Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change
  • Ability to work with non-traditional students
  • Ability to participate in residencies/pre-practica, national faculty meetings and other work-related travel, if needed

Responsibilities

  • Teach and mentor students in their role as mental health counselors
  • Interact with students within the Canvas platform
  • Postings to the classroom must be completed in a timely manner in accordance with the Faculty Handbook or other criteria established by Walden University
  • Be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours
  • Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions and to provide feedback and grades to students through Canvas
  • Publish their availability to students through course syllabi
  • Attend residencies/Pre-practica held domestically, where they will teach intensives and colloquia, and facilitate school and university-wide discussions
  • Complete training in dissertation chairing and service and are eligible to serve on doctoral dissertations
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
