Mobile Engineering Manager

Summary

Join Brightwell and lead the evolution of an emerging remittance product as a Mobile Engineering Manager. This hybrid role blends leadership and hands-on coding (50% coding, 50% leadership), guiding a team of mobile engineers and collaborating across functions. You will architect and build native SDKs, drive engineering excellence, and own product outcomes. The position is remote (U.S. only) with quarterly travel to Atlanta. Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on development and architectural decisions
• 2+ years in a management or technical leadership role with distributed teams
• Strong background in native mobile development (iOS and Android)
• An entrepreneurial mindset—you’re just as comfortable in code as you are coaching or making strategic decisions
• A proven track record of delivering complex products and elevating team performance

Responsibilities

• Lead and Mentor: Guide a team of 4 mobile engineers working with Swift, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and SwiftUI
• Get Hands-On: Write and review code regularly—this is a 50% coding role
• Architect and Build: Influence architecture, scalability, and performance decisions for our native SDKs
• Drive Excellence: Improve engineering practices, tools, and team performance through mentorship and metrics
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with product, design, and operations to deliver world-class features on time
• Own the Outcome: Identify risks, solve problems, and push for operational excellence at every step

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with mobile SDKs and performance monitoring in production environments is a plus
