Summary

Join AC Disaster Consulting, a leading national consulting firm, as a Mutual Aid Consultant. These temporary, full-time roles (Junior, Mid, and Senior levels) are remote with potential travel to Florida. Consultants will review state mutual aid agreement claim packages, assist agencies in developing claims for reimbursement, and perform data analysis. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with experience in emergency management. Compensation varies by level, and temporary positions are not benefits-eligible except where required by law.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment
  • 1-2+ years of intermediate to advanced-level knowledge/experience in various emergency management functions
  • Experience with reimbursement eligibility requirements
  • 1-2+ years of intermediate to advanced level customer service experience
  • Beginner to intermediate-Level knowledge and/or exposure in one or more Emergency Management Disciplines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
  • 2-5+ years intermediate to advanced-level knowledge/experience in various emergency management functions
  • 2-5+ years of intermediate to advanced level customer service experience
  • 2-5+ years of working knowledge of mutual aid policies, agreements and principles
  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field
  • Equivalency: Professional experience beyond minimum requirements, in a related field may substitute the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
  • 1-2+ intermediate level knowledge and/or exposure in one or more Emergency Management Disciplines
  • Beginner to intermediate level knowledge of recovery and/or response programs including FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) public assistance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
  • 5-7+ years’ advanced or subject matter expert-level knowledge/experience in various emergency management functions with a focus on your current division
  • 5-7+ year of advanced level customer service experience
  • 5-7+ years of working knowledge of mutual aid policies, agreements and principles
  • Experience in a lead role delegating tasks and supporting leadership needs
  • Intermediate level knowledge of recovery and response programs including FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Public Assistance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel

Responsibilities

  • Perform outreach to appropriate agencies
  • Read and analyze contracts to assure contract requirements are being met prior to claim approval
  • Support administrative needs and help to ensure that all the supporting documentation for a mutual aid claim package is in alignment with the agencies contract and FEMA eligibility
  • Perform data analysis in MS word, Excel, Outlook, Smartsheet. Perform filtering and sorting of data and other functions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Track all deliverables and critical documentation for the project
  • Attend meetings and conference calls with clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conduct meetings and briefings with clients, prepare and facilitate budgets, proposals, client presentations, develop materials and reporting as needed
  • Develop state and local response and pre- and post-disaster recovery plans, procedures, checklists, and guidance documents
  • Perform quality control review procedures over work performed by other consultants and over client-provided documents as requested

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field
  • Equivalency: Professional experience beyond minimum requirements, in a related field may substitute the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
