Network Reliability Engineer

Summary

GRNET is seeking a Network Reliability Engineer to help design, develop, and run resilient, scalable services based on Free and Open Source software. The role involves operating, maintaining, and designing GRNET's IP, BGP/MPLS, Data Center networks, and the Greek Internet Exchange. Responsibilities include automating network configuration generation and deployment, creating and maintaining network management and monitoring tools, and contributing to technical documentation.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing protocols, OSI Layer 2)
• Comfortably able to work in a UNIX/LINUX environment
• Programming skills, preferably Python
• Willing to work remotely most of the time

Responsibilities

• Participate in operating, maintaining, and designing GRNET's IP, BGP/MPLS, Data Center networks, and the Greek Internet Exchange
• Contribute to automating network configuration generation and deployment
• Contribute to creating, enhancing, and maintaining network management and monitoring tools
• Create and maintain technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• In depth understanding of networking technologies (BGP, ISIS, EVPN, MPLS, VXLAN)
• Experience with more than one networking equipment vendors
• Working experience in ISP and/or Data Center networks
• Experience with configuration management/orchestration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terrafrom, etc)
• Experience in UNIX/LINUX systems administration
• Experience with Docker
