  • Demonstrated understanding of orbit determination to include tracking and predicting the orbits using mathematical models and algorithms
  • Desire to understand space surveillance sensors, networks, and observation data, including capabilities and limitations
  • Ability and willingness to multi-task and be capable of applying innovative analysis in a dynamic work environment to solve customer problems
  • Willingness to study and understand orbital or space science data and non-regular data message management
  • Ability to learn how to apply orbital mechanics to real-world problems
  • Aptitude on compiling statistics based on current space object population
  • Education and/or experience in code design
  • Willingness to develop Python scripting skillset to develop code on analyzing space-based assets
  • Candidate must have recently completed or be within six months of completing one or more of the following preferred degree programs: Aerospace Engineering, Physics/Astrophysics, or Aeronautics
  • US citizenship required
  • Candidate must meet eligibility requirements and be willing to complete a background investigation and application for a TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

  • Develop the knowledge and expertise to solve various operational orbital mechanics problems
  • Process data for orbit states and predictions
  • Learn and understand processes to coordinate and integrate relevant information and findings across multiple functional areas to develop and deliver space analysis products enabling customer situational awareness and decisions
  • Broaden into other areas related to conjunction assessment, proximity operations and various technical tasks related to orbit analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Linux-based OS, particularly Red Hat, SUSE, or Fedora
  • Beginner to intermediate proficiency in Python 2 and/or 3, Perl, and enabling efficient shell scripting and application development with modern languages
  • Familiarity with Python numerical and libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciPy
