Summary

Join Newsweek's global legal team as a Paralegal Assistant to aid the smooth and efficient running of the team and their workflow. The role will provide a mix of transactional, contentious, and administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Competent in using the Microsoft 365 suite of software (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Education to degree level, or equivalent
  • Clear written and spoken English language
  • Working understanding of intellectual property (trademarks, copyright)
  • Equally comfortable working on own initiative and taking instructions
  • Strong organisational skills, keeping track of deadlines, managing case files, and maintaining effective case management systems

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and using contract management and lifecycle software
  • Basic Contract Drafting: pro-forma agreements and templates
  • Trademark Portfolio Management: monitor renewals, liaise with external trademark attorneys, maintain up to date database of registrations
  • Document Review and Analysis: Reviewing legal documents, drafting basic agreements (NDA’s, pro-forma agreements), maintaining and updating library of template and precedent documents
  • Litigation Assistance: Liaise with authorised service agent, prepare pro-forma responses, legal research, preparation and collation of documents, communicate and liaise with outside counsel and opposing parties
  • General Admin: maintain file system, scheduling, meeting planning and minuting etc
