Summary

Join HackerOne's Finance team as a Payroll and Equity Analyst, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll and equity program administration. This role requires experience in both payroll operations and equity administration, navigating competing priorities in a dynamic environment. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to drive operational excellence and deliver a seamless employee experience. The position is primarily remote, with occasional in-person requirements in Seattle, WA; Austin, TX; or Washington, DC. You will prepare and process US and international payroll, manage equity plans, prepare reports, and provide employee support. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced Excel skills, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll and/or equity administration
  • Knowledge of fundamental payroll concepts applicable to full-cycle payroll and related accounting
  • Familiarity with equity management and understanding of equity types, particularly stock options, and taxation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheet and data analysis skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and audit US and international payroll, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and accurate and timely payments
  • In partnership with your manager, troubleshoot issues that arise during payroll processing and apply critical thinking and best judgment to problem-solve or escalate quickly, to ensure resolution during tight deadlines
  • Manage day-to-day administration and maintenance of the company’s equity plans, such as stock options and performance RSUs, which includes processing equity grants, exercises, releases, and cancellations in the equity management system
  • Prepare equity-related reports, including accounting and financial reporting, for management, board and auditors adhering to monthly, quarterly and annual close timelines as applicable, partnering with key business stakeholders across the People, Legal and across Controllership to ensure completeness and accuracy of the information
  • Partner with internal & external resources to ensure equity transactions comply with internal policies and regulations (409A, ISO/NSO compliance, 3921)
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures to streamline, standardize, and scale payroll and equity processes
  • Provide timely and accurate support to employees on payroll and equity-related inquiries, conducting employee training on equity and, overall, ensuring a high level of customer service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfort working in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes related to payroll and equity
  • Experience processing payroll via Workday
  • Experience with private company equity administrations
