Summary

Join Burkland Associates as a Payroll Partner and provide strategic payroll expertise to clients. You will support system implementations, process improvements, compliance, and best practices. This client-facing role requires accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with client goals. Responsibilities include processing multi-state payrolls, reviewing transactions, conducting gap analyses, and resolving client inquiries. You will ensure compliance with regulations and manage filings and audits. Collaboration with internal teams and vendors is essential. Maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication and service.

Requirements

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience
  • You are comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Knowledge of payroll tax deposit, filings, principles, and wage and hour laws
  • Experience with payroll platforms including ADP, Gusto, Rippling, and Trinet
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead multiple client engagements
  • You have experience processing multi-location payrolls
  • You adapt well to new technologies and tools
  • You possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • You have a strong attention to detail
  • You’re passionate about delivering client value and operational excellence

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payrolls for clients’ employees located in multiple states and locations
  • Review and process transactions, including benefit changes, compensation, and other adjustments
  • Conduct gap analyses, process reviews, and provide strategic recommendations
  • Coordinate with clients and HR team members to process new hires, terminations, leaves, and employee changes
  • Resolve inquiries from internal and external clients in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, federal, state, and local requirements, and deadlines
  • Manage regulatory filings, notices, audits, and other communications from federal and state agencies
  • Work on multiple payroll platforms, partnering with vendors on system administration, maintenance, and reporting needs when necessary
  • Partner with accounting and HR teams to manage, reconcile, and report on employee benefit programs, including 401(k) and FSA, and work with service providers to resolve inquiries and/or provide employee training
  • Maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication, timely deliverables, and high-quality service
