Summary

Join Pacific Fusion as a research intern to contribute to commercial fusion energy development, working with the Experiments team on diagnostics for our high-gain fusion facility.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a PhD program in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in physics measurement methodologies including nuclear, x-ray, and optical diagnostics
  • Experience using high-level programming languages such as python to perform numerical modeling or data analysis
  • Able to work independently with limited guidance and proactively seek out the resources needed to complete the project
  • Able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Complete a research project under the supervision of a Pacific Fusion mentor
  • Contribute to the design of nuclear, x-ray, or optical diagnostics for our high-gain fusion facility
  • Advance our computational tools, including Monte Carlo modeling and synthetic data generation
  • Develop laboratory capabilities for test and calibration of key diagnostic components
  • Participate in external experiments at MA-scale university pulsed power facilities
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Communicate the results of your work through oral presentations and written reports
