Platform Engineering

Summary

Join Numan as an Engineering Leader to head our Engineering Platform group. Lead and grow a high-performing team, building and supporting a scalable and secure infrastructure. Design, implement, and manage infrastructure, automation platforms, and DevEx improvements. Ensure high availability, performance, security, and resilience for platform services. Collaborate with leadership and other teams to define platform strategy. Develop and apply industry best practices. Mentor and coach engineers. The ideal candidate has extensive platform engineering leadership experience, strong cloud platform experience, and a deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and DevOps principles.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership roles, ideally at the Head of or Director level
• Strong experience in cloud platforms, containerisation and orchestration technologies, infrastructure as code tools and CI/CD pipelines
• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, DevOps principles, and SRE practices
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale infrastructure projects
• Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• A passion for building and leading high-performing engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership and direction to the Engineering Platform group, currently consisting of two teams: Platform Engineering team and DevEx & QA team
• Building and growing a high-performing team of teams within the Engineering Platform group
• Leading and helping your teams to design, implement, and manage infrastructure, automation platforms and DevEx improvements
• Ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, security, and resilience for all platform services
• Collaborating with leadership, product and tech teams and other departments to define platform strategy and roadmap using a value-driven approach and engineering metrics
• Developing and applying industry best practices for infrastructure architecture, security, operational management and developer experience
• Driving a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
• Mentoring, coaching and growing engineers and engineering managers within the Engineering Platform group and the Engineering function

Preferred Qualifications

• Led a DevOps transformation within a tech organisation
• Hands-on experience with DevEx initiatives and automation
• Hands-on experience on any of the technologies we currently use: GCP, Terraform, K8s, Grafana, Circle CI, Cypress, Python/Django, Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/React, Postgress
