Principal DevOps Engineer

Summary

Join Abacus Insights, a mission-driven technology company transforming healthcare data, as a Principal DevOps Engineer. You will architect and build core platform components, drive the design and implementation of our deployment platform, sustain third-party component operations, and support our deployment cadence. This role requires leadership in promoting best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering organization. The ideal candidate possesses extensive development experience, deep cloud expertise (AWS preferred), and a strong understanding of Linux systems administration and networking. You will be part of a small, impactful team contributing to a rapidly growing SaaS business.

Requirements

• 7+ years of development experience, including architecture and design of complex systems
• Deep cloud experience, AWS preferred
• Solid understanding of Linux systems administration and networking
• Experience implementing a CI/CD system using an industry-standard platform such as GitLab, Jenkins, or Travis
• Knowledge of containerization, specifically Docker and Kubernetes
• Fluent command of the tools of the trade, including Bash, Python, or Terraform
• Knowledge of best practices as related to designing and building efficient, maintainable, testable, portable applications
• Keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A team-first attitude, always looking to improve yourself and those around you

Responsibilities

• Architect and build core platform components across multiple clouds
• Drive design, implementation, and adoption of our custom Python- and Cloud-based deployment platform with an eye toward continuous delivery
• Sustain and improve the operations of third-party components
• Support and manage Abacus' deployment cadence
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to frameworks and processes which cut across the engineering organization
• Be a leader and promoter of best practices both within the team and within the larger organization
