Summary
Granicus is looking for a Network Security Engineer to expand its Cyber Defense program. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert, providing leadership, implementing ingress security controls, working with teams to protect cloud assets, identifying technical challenges, applying good design and problem-solving skills, building new detection capabilities, maintaining existing ones, working closely with the SOC Operations team, Security Engineering, and cross functional teams during incidents, demonstrating excellent communication skills, providing mentorship, researching new security technology trends, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets.
Requirements
- Advanced level knowledge of network security engineering technologies, techniques, and implementation
- Broad and deep expertise in modern networking technologies, especially cloud networking
- Demonstrated expertise with cloud network security technologies including next-generation firewalls, web application firewalls, DDoS mitigation, bot protection, API gateways, network security groups
- Demonstrated expertise with on premises network security technologies including next-generation firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, routers, switches
- Working knowledge of Cyber Security detection and response processes, methodologies, and tools
- Strong sense of ownership and ability to be a self-starter
- Ability to work independently to accomplish assigned objectives with minimal supervision
- Ability to lead others and manage direct reports
- Experience engineering with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM, EDR, CSPM
- Ability to write technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train team members
Responsibilities
- Serve as subject matter expert for all network security engineering technologies
- Provide leadership within the Network Security Engineering team and across Granicus
- Implement ingress security controls for public Internet facing SaaS products
- Work with teams to provide leadership and implement network controls to protect cloud assets
- Identify technical challenges and formulate engineering solutions
- Apply good design and problem-solving skills to multi-team projects
- Build new detection capabilities based on research of new attack techniques
- Maintain, tune, and sunset existing detection capabilities
- Work closely with SOC Operations team to design and improve process flows
- Work closely with Security Engineering to improve tooling and processes
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Provide mentorship and leadership for other Cyber Defense personnel
- Research new security technology trends that can be used to reduce exposure
- Work with cross functional teams as a security representative during incidents
