Principal Software Engineer

Summary

Join Pulumi as a Principal Software Engineer to bring cloud programming model to the world and realize a vision of enabling every developer to harness the power of the cloud. Work with the team, product managers, and leadership to help define strategy, create a roadmap, design solutions, code across the full stack, and participate in code and design reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years as a highly productive software engineer
• Consistent ability to tackle ambiguity and drive clarity
• Expert at modern cloud-based systems architecture and distributed systems
• Systematic problem-solving approach, first principles, critical thinking skills, good design sensibilities
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Still loves to code and is a prolific contributor while still multiplying the efforts of the team

Responsibilities

• Work with the team, product managers, and leadership to help define our long-term strategy and clarify requirements while thinking about the customer
• Create a roadmap and enable the team to achieve it
• Design/Architect simple, cost-effective solutions to complex features, aiming for security, scalability, and performance. Our features must work both in our cloud and in a self-hosted environment
• Code across our full stack (Angular/Typescript, Nodejs, Golang for API development)
• Enable our SDK and providers to enable Pulumi Cloud functionality in multiple languages (currently Typescript/Javascript, Golang, Python, Java, and C#)
• Participate in code and design reviews and mentor other developers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multiple programming languages such as Go, TypeScript, Python, Java, and C# (nice to have)
• Experience with deployment orchestration and infrastructure as code tools (nice to have)

Benefits

• Base Salary Hiring Range: $180,500 - $227,850
• All full-time employee offers at Pulumi include base salary, bonus or variable, equity and benefits
