Summary

Join Smartsheet as a Senior Principal Software Engineer to build a top-tier software organization and design the next generation architecture. In this role, you will identify platform scale and performance challenges, build and lead strategic projects, mentor other engineers, and communicate effectively with different audiences.

Requirements

  • 12+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications
  • 12+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such Java, Kotlin or TypeScript
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable back-end services for the next generation of applications at Smartsheet (Kotlin, Java, GO, Python)
  • Solve challenging distributed systems problems and work with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Take part in code reviews and architectural discussions as you work with other software engineers and product managers
  • Mentor junior engineers on code quality and other industry best practices
  • Forge a strong partnership with product management and other key areas of the business
  • Influence and mentor other teams of engineers, acting as a technical design mentor and providing architectural and design input
