Principal Software Engineer

Join Smartsheet's Identity and Access Pillar team as a Principal Engineer and shape the future of core services like Authentication and User/Group management. You will architect major feature enhancements, review project designs, create partnerships across Smartsheet, mentor team members, and analyze feature sets for market effectiveness and implementation efficiency. This full-time position reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering and offers remote work options within the US. Requirements

• 10+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available “Tier 1” customer-facing cloud applications
• 10+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies with Java, Kotlin or TypeScript
• 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Responsibilities

• Architect major feature enhancements with appropriate delegation to other engineers on the pillar
• Review and coach team on project designs for design review presentations
• Create strong partnership with Principal and Distinguished engineers across Smartsheet to ensure propagation of best practices
• Guide and mentor team members regarding architecture and best practices
• Analyze feature sets for market effectiveness: promote appropriate feedback and discussions with Product and Design
• Analyze feature sets for implementation efficiency and performance: facilitates feedback and discussions with Product and Design
• Partner with engineering leaders, product management, user experience and other essential areas of the business
