Requirements
- A portfolio showcasing design systems you have created or significantly contributed to
- Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and managing a small team of designers, fostering collaboration and professional growth
- Deep expertise with Figma, component libraries, and other design system management tools
- A strategic mindset focused on design scalability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and bridging the gap between design, product, and engineering
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously
- A solid understanding of systems thinking, user-centered design principles, and accessibility standards
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and operational strategies to stakeholders
- Familiarity with data-informed decision-making, including metrics to measure the effectiveness of design operations and systems
- 6+ years of experience in interaction design
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve Watson, ensuring it is scalable, accessible, and flexible for all product teams
- Lead and manage a team of two designers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to enable their growth and ensure high-quality outputs
- Oversee the maintenance and growth of Watsonโs component libraries, documentation, and design tokens to ensure consistency across products and platforms
- Ensure accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG compliance) are embedded into every aspect of the design system, championing inclusive design practices and fostering a culture of accessibility
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders) to align the design system with business goals, technical capabilities, and accessibility requirements
- Facilitate adoption and education by creating resources, hosting workshops, and providing training to improve understanding, usage, and best practices across the organization
- Drive design system innovation, exploring new tools, techniques, and processes to improve Watsonโs efficiency, accessibility, and effectiveness
- Maintain and optimize the Figma structure and workflows, ensuring components and libraries are intuitive, efficient, and accessible for all design teams
- Create and monitor metrics and feedback loops to measure the effectiveness of the design system, track improvements, and identify opportunities for continuous enhancement
