Collaborate with cross-functional teams, iterate on designs based on user research and feedback, and present your work to clients. This remote US-based position requires a minimum of 4 years of product design experience and strong communication skills. Coforma offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and growth potential. The role involves some travel and requires residing in one of the specified states.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a product design role—preferably working on a cross- or multi-functional team—in which you participated in projects from discovery through launch and worked with project leadership to develop and execute end-to-end product design
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally (whether verbally or through assistive technologies/aids) to increase transparency
  • Able to integrate feedback, validate, and iterate on our products while being mindful of our customers, contributors, and insights gleaned by our support teams
  • Experience creating designs, from concept through non-code prototypes, with modern programs
  • A keenness for identifying user needs, defining clear solutions, and delivering those through detailed design
  • Proficiency crafting or altering quality artifacts, including archetypes, journey maps, user and task flows, wireframes, sitemaps, and clickable prototypes, all with limited support
  • The flexibility to design in low and high fidelity
  • Experience with interaction design, usability, and accessibility
  • Strong visual design skills
  • The ability to help plan and execute design research sessions or workshops
  • The ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to inform your designs and recommendations
  • Discernment and experience to select the most efficient and responsible process and tool for the job at hand

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating closely with your research, design, product, and development teammates, you’ll efficiently create accessible, sophisticated, high-quality, and usable designs that solve problems and meet user needs
  • Often working under the guidance of a design lead, you’ll primarily focus on creating high-quality product design deliverables for our clients, from discovery through optimization and hand-off
  • Develop, execute, and iterate on product design deliverables, often in collaboration with other design disciplines such as design research, UX design, content design, and visual design
  • Design exceptional products from start to finish, participating in all phases of design, from definition to development and optimization
  • Iterate actively with prototypes at all levels of design fidelity, informed by user research and testing, market trends, and business goals
  • Communicate and share often in written, verbal, and visual forms to create alignment and move the work toward implementation
  • Present work—internally and to clients—communicating the why, the what, and the how of your insights and recommendations
  • Utilize and contribute to design systems
  • Collaborate regularly with accessibility specialists and engineers to ship high-quality experiences
  • Contribute to the product design practice through knowledge sharing, participation in critiques, and giving and receiving craft guidance
  • Build and maintain stakeholder, team, and participant relationships proactively and responsively
  • Seek, promote, and model a highly collaborative, responsible, and ethical culture through your individual actions

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience working on a remote team or remote freelancing
  • Prior professional services, civic tech, government and/or federal consulting experience
  • Experience writing or editing requirements for government proposals
  • The ideal applicant will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, flexible, innovative, and attentive to detail
  • Experience conducting remote-only research
  • Veteran of the United States Armed Forces

Benefits

  • Unlimited paid time off along with paid holidays
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • A 401(k) plan with an employer match
  • Internet, phone, and home office stipends
