Summary
Join Teaching Lab, a growing remote education non-profit, as their Product Designer! Shape the user experience of edtech products within the Innovation Studio, a unit focused on leveraging generative AI. You will design intuitive and accessible user interfaces, conduct UX research, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The role offers a salary range of $106,000-$139,825 annually, with potential for growth. This is a full-time, remote position starting August-September 2025, reporting to the Senior Director, Teaching Lab Innovation Studio. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 3+ years in product design, and proficiency in Figma. A passion for improving educational outcomes and deep empathy for K-12 teachers and students are essential.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Design, or a related field or the completion of a UX/UI design program, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in Product Design (UX/UI)
- Proven experience designing digital products, including wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
- Proficiency with design tools, specifically Figma
- Experience conducting and incorporating user research and usability testing into the design process
- Strong understanding of UX design principles, user-centered design processes, and accessibility best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present design concepts clearly to stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and manage more than one project simultaneously

- All team members are expected to support program/project needs which could mean that you play multiple roles at Teaching Lab (i.e., project lead, support, subject matter expert, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Design intuitive, engaging, and accessible user interfaces for the Studio products
- Conduct UX research to understand user needs and gather feedback, including usability testing, surveys, and stakeholder interviews
- Serve as an advocate for the user throughout the product development lifecycle
- Iterate on designs based on user research findings, stakeholder feedback, and product team priorities
- Maintain and update design systems to optimize design processes and ensure consistency
- Work closely with cross-functional team members to align design solutions with product goals
- Contribute to design discussions and brainstorming sessions to drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Teaching Lab Innovation Studio and/or Executive Team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in education or working on educational products
- Understanding of educational theories and practices, particularly related to teaching and learning technologies
- Strong understanding of AI and machine learning concepts
- Proficiency with data-driven decision-making, including A/B testing and analytics
