Product Realization Associate

Summary

Join our team as a Product Realization Shop Technician and contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, including woodshop, metal shop, electronics lab, and more. As a highly effective communicator and collaborative team player, you will work with staff and members to ensure proper use of tools and cleanliness. With at least 1 year experience maintaining and servicing tools and equipment, you will be responsible for tracking part replacements, tool repairs, and maintenance schedules.

Requirements

• At least 1 year experience maintaining and servicing tools and equipment including
• Ability to follow maintenance schedules and keep accurate records
• Ability to follow along with instruction manuals and exploded view drawings
• Ability to coordinating with technicians & vendors remotely
• Experience with physical prototyping, digital design, design for manufacturing, or other production related processes
• Familiarity with the best applications and safety concerns of a wide range of prototyping materials, including: plastics, metals, engineered and solid woods, textiles, finishes
• Experience maintaining an inventory of consumables, parts and tooling
• Highly effective communicator and collaborative team player
• Embrace flexibility and adaptability as the team learns through prototyping and playtesting, adjusting project plans as needed
• Demonstrates a desire to constantly improve and adapt to new technologies
• Independent with ability to follow along with instruction manuals, exploded view drawings, and troubleshoot basic technical issues
• Interest in learning about various tools and their uses outside their expertise
• Highly organized, task oriented

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining most tools and facilities within the Product Realization Shops including: woodshop, metal shop, electronics lab, spray booth, casting room, digifab lab, machine shop and textiles lab
• Keeping track of the state of hand tools, replacing/tracking down missing ones as necessary
• Being aware of shop users, their needs and projects, and working with them and staff to ensure proper use of tools and cleanliness
• Keeping and tracking a maintenance log in digital systems (Airtable)
• Tracking part replacements and tool repairs
• Tracking the state of the fume and dust extractors and vacuums. Replacing filters and vacuum bags as necessary
• Awareness of all the facilities and the tools within them. Awareness of members' use of the space
• Working with other Product Realization staff to design, build, and implement things which upgrade the ergonomics of the facilities (i.e. workbenches, cubbies, displays/holders for tools)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a shared shop environment
• Experience with CAD software packages
• Experience with CNC and digital fabrication workflows
