This role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in spacecraft propulsion system design, development, and testing. Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of spacecraft propulsion systems
- Expertise in propulsion system modeling and analysis tools, and the ability to create your own analysis tools
- Ability to lead complex engineering projects with multiple stakeholders, meeting deadlines and deliverables
- Be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design, analysis, and development of propulsion systems for advanced satellites, ensuring mission requirements are met
- Oversee the integration, testing, and qualification of propulsion systems, including hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing
- Develop and implement novel propulsion technologies and architectures to enhance system performance and reliability
- Conduct performance analysis and simulations of the propulsion system
- Drive system-level trade studies to select optimal propulsion technologies based on mission objectives and constraints
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including structures, avionics, and thermal, to ensure seamless integration of propulsion subsystems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with chemical propulsion systems
- Knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks for propulsion system design
- Hands-on experience with propulsion test setups, including vacuum chamber testing and instrumentation
- Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment or a similarly dynamic setting
- Ability to maintain or obtain TS/SCI clearance
