Remote Public Health Data Analyst

Requirements

• Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
• Experience in data-focused roles within public health
• Proficient in a variety of data science tools (R, Python, SQL) and techniques
• Experience with cloud and on premise data sources such as Azure, AWS, SQL
• Understanding of public health data sources and analyses
• Strong analytic and organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Degree in data science, public health, biostatistics, or a related field (e.g., sociology, medicine, and biological or health sciences)

Responsibilities

• Independently conducts scientific data analyses and data mining
• Designs charts and other visualizations to communicate data findings
• Updates and reviews data tables, including reviewing data source documentation to understand the parameters of the data source
• Plans and conducts high-quality research by selecting appropriate statistical methods
• Keeps up to date and learns latest data science methods and approaches
• Completes tasks on time with minimal supervision but supports collaboration across teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of statistics, including a course of study that included at least 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics)
• Experience and applied coursework in collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data
