Requirements
- Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
- Experience supporting public health surveillance efforts, and/or utilizing electronic clinical and lab data to conduct surveillance efforts with public health agencies
- Advanced understanding of public health data sources and analyses
- Knowledge of public health data and related privacy requirements (HIPAA, PII, etc.)
- Degree(s) in Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, or related field
Responsibilities
- Prepares and maintains multiple datasets for use with public health surveillance initiatives
- Participates in requirement gathering exercises and provides recommendations on solutions
- Researches tools, systems, and techniques related to public health surveillance requirements
- Recommends and implements improvements to technical solutions
- Creates, modifies, and maintains software capabilities that extract insight from data, to include information, software applications, machine learning models, automation, and other software components
- Works with analysts, subject matter experts, and data scientists to determine and implement data structures
- Follows the governmentβs software development lifecycle framework and provides agreed upon project documentation
- Completes tasks on time with minimal supervision but supports collaboration across teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience with HHS data to include the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes
- Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies
