Join Trella Health as a seasoned QA Automation Lead to architect and drive the automation strategy. You will build scalable automation frameworks spanning UI, API, mobile, and data validation, defining the automation roadmap, selecting tools, and implementing best practices. This role involves integrating automation into the development lifecycle, mentoring QA team members, and fostering a culture of quality engineering. The position is remote-first, with a preference for candidates near regional hubs (Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia), but considers qualified applicants in other U.S. locations. You will report to the Director, Quality Assurance and be responsible for creating and owning automation strategy documentation, coding guidelines, and onboarding guides for team members. Requirements
- 7+ years in QA Automation, with 3+ years leading automation framework development from scratch
- Expertise in automation tools and libraries such as Playwright, Cypress, REST-assured, Postman, PyTest, etc
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or Java)
- Demonstrated experience architecting automated solutions for UI, API, data validation, and mobile testing
- Deep knowledge of CI/CD integration using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
- Strong grasp of QA strategy, test design techniques, and coverage models
- Experience integrating with test management platforms (e.g., TestRail)
- Excellent communication skills, with a passion for mentorship and knowledge sharing
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement a modular, scalable automation framework that supports UI, API, mobile, and data testing
- Evaluate and select appropriate tools, languages, and libraries for each layer of the automation stack
- Define coding standards, folder structures, reusable components, and best practices for test development
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous test execution and reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, DevOps, and engineering to embed automation into the SDLC
- Track and report automation metrics and coverage; drive visibility via dashboards and reporting tools
- Integrate automation execution and results into TestRail
- Mentor manual testers and junior engineers transitioning into automation roles
- Create and own automation strategy documentation, coding guidelines, and onboarding guides for team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with mobile automation frameworks like Appium or Detox
- Domain knowledge of healthcare data or experience with enterprise SaaS products
