Summary
Join Xplor's Technology Vertical as a QA Engineer in Australia and make a daily impact by enriching customer experiences. Reporting to the QA Tech Lead, you will lead quality assurance efforts across data and analytics platforms, ensuring data integrity and performance. Responsibilities include validating data accuracy, collaborating with cross-functional teams, writing SQL queries, managing the defect lifecycle, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to QA frameworks. This role requires advanced SQL skills, experience with BI tools, and familiarity with Agile methodologies. The position offers 100% remote work anywhere in Australia and various benefits.
Requirements
- Proven intermediate level and higher experience in QA, with some years focused on BI, data warehouse, or analytics testing
- Advanced SQL skills and experience validating large, complex datasets
- Strong understanding of ETL processes, data modeling, and data governance principles
- Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Azure Dev Ops, JIRA and Confluence
- Knowledgeable in API testing (e.g., Postman)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Strategic thinker with a strong attention to detail and a passion for data quality
- Comfortable working independently and leading initiatives in a remote team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
Responsibilities
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and transformation logic across multiple systems and environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Developers, Product Managers, QAs to ensure test coverage and alignment with business goals
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to perform in-depth data validation and reconciliation
- Own the defect lifecycle: log, triage, track, and report issues using Azure/Jira and Confluence
- Mentor junior QA team members and provide technical guidance on BI testing best practices
- Contribute to the development and refinement of QA frameworks, standards, and automation strategies for data testing
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and influence sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives from a QA perspective
- Support SIT and production validation, ensuring data quality in live environments
- Recommend improvements to QA processes, tools, and automation strategies for BI testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) is advantage
- Exposure to data quality frameworks or tools (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests)
- ISTQB Advanced Level or equivalent certification
- Experience with test automation in data environments
