Remote Backend Engineer

Summary

Join Rye as a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer and contribute to building APIs for eCommerce, developing infrastructure on GCP, and delivering large projects end-to-end.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in backend engineering
• Proficiency in Golang and Node.js
• Experience building systems with a GraphQL API and a gRPC backend system
• Strong understanding of best practices in software development and engineering
• Experience working with external platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
• Good technical writer

Responsibilities

• Develop features and build infrastructure to integrate with external platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce
• Build and maintain high-quality APIs for eCommerce, focusing on tracking orders, order placement, returns, and search engines
• Stand up new infrastructure on GCP
• Deliver large projects end to end, coordinating features across team members and systems
• Communicate updates proactively
• Work independently and with a remote-first team
