Business Analyst

About the role

Apixio is looking for a Business Analyst to join our analytics team who is curious about data, passionate about analyzing and deriving insights from it, and proficient in implementing the tools to do so. In this role, you will be working closely with our internal customers, helping them create reports and dashboards that help them understand metrics about their respective functional areas. The business analyst position is ideal for someone who has the right mix of data analysis and communication skills to collect requirements and analyze data to deliver the same.

Responsibilities

Gather Business Requirements

• Understand Apixio’s business, products and data stores
• Gather requirements from internal customer teams (medical coding, customer success, product, marketing) around data analysis

Data manipulation and analysis

• Identify the best sources of primary or secondary data to satisfy business requirements
• Work with cross-functional teams (analytics, data integrations, engineering) to collect and transform data
• Review metrics with customer teams to determine if forecasted outcomes and KPIs are in alignment with expectations

Communicate Insights

• Use business intelligence tools to create reports and visualizations that communicate results of data analysis
• Combine data from multiple sources and business logic to create reports and dashboards for delivery
• Present and explain analytical problems, approaches, results, and recommendations

Demonstrate Initiative and Focus

• Demonstrate ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment with evolving product capabilities
• Have a high degree of initiative and customer service focus
• Be a results oriented team player

Required Skills / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Health Services or Economics or equivalent field required.

• 1-3 years of hands-on work experience in business intelligence and analytics. Technical knowledge of BI techniques and tools like Tableau or Looker.

• Experience conducting data analysis in Python, SQL and Excel

• Strong communication skills necessary to relay complex data analysis requirements to team members and customers.

• Strong organizational and planning skills are essential.

• Ability to work independently when needed, applying critical thinking and problem solving to achieve a positive outcome.

• Demonstrated expertise in data visualization and storytelling techniques, utilizing advanced tools and frameworks to create compelling and interactive data visualizations.

• High agency, integrity, ownership, and curiosity.

Preferred Skills / Experience

• Experience working in the healthcare industry
• Experience with object oriented programming
• Experience with statistics and data modeling concepts like multivariate regression, segmentation modeling, machine learning, data mining, simulation, optimization, forecasting
• Experience with other business intelligence backend and analytics applications

The salary range below is for Base Salary.  Total compensation also includes benefits and variable compensation.  Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.

Base Compensation

$65,000—$95,000 USD
