Requirements

  • Fully qualified UK based pharmacist with a clean GPhC record
  • Master’s (MPharm) Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification in Independent Prescribing V300
  • Experience of delivering high quality clinical pharmacy service in a primary care environment for a minimum 5 years
  • Experience of clinical work in a digital/virtual primary care environment for a minimum 2 years
  • Detailed understanding of the principles of clinical governance, including investigation of incidents and complaints and the ability to extract and action quality improvements arising from them
  • Experience in writing pharmaceutical services policies and guidelines
  • Advanced level of clinical knowledge and skills
  • Ability to undertake prescription review of medications prescribed on the platform
  • Knowledge of national standards and practice of clinical pharmacy
  • Ability to work to a deadline and prioritise workload
  • Able to analyse situations and / or processes to identify areas of clinical risk and formulate actions to reduce the risks identified
  • Able to exercise initiative when dealing with issues within own specialist area of competence
  • Sound understanding of the principles of Quality Improvement and its application
  • Extensive track record of delivering evidenced based practice and utilizing research in practice
  • Demonstrates effective partnership working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills, together with excellent listening skills including facilitation
  • Computer literate (Microsoft office) and can work with or rapidly adopt skills in New Clinical IT systems, Jira, Slack, MS Teams, Miro

Responsibilities

  • Monitor prescribing activities, providing regular analysis and reports to uphold exemplary safety standards
  • Undertake medicines reviews of incidents to maintain a continuous quality improvement process
  • Deliver relevant clinical audit and service evaluation work to ensure compliance and patient safety on the platform is adhered to
  • Ensure that all the prescribing policies, protocols and governance processes are in place to support safe prescribing for all DCA patients
  • Support the development and management of the medicines optimisation strategy, ensuring any medicines related written guidance is regularly communicated with our clinicians
  • Ensure that DCA is meeting the relevant legal and regulatory standards related to medicines management across all clinical services
  • Plan and organise service development initiatives to reduce risks associated with medicines
  • Support developing the prescription fulfillment and pharmacy network strategy
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the company in the area of medicines management, clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical services
  • Monitor patient safety alerts (MHRA) related to medicine and healthcare products, ensuring the appropriate information is cascaded across the business in a timely manner

Your new role: T o ensure the provision of a safe and effective approach to medicines management and pharmaceutical/prescription fulfilment processes across all clinical services offered at DCA. The postholder will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and recommendations for updates in medication management. Addtionally, they will also be required to monitor and evaluate medication-related outcomes through advanced data analytics.

The postholder will also work closely with the clinical management team to implement strategic quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall pharmaceutical care provided through the platform. They will also be responsible for ongoing prescription reviews, focusing on the appropriateness and safety of medications prescribed on the platform.

Salary: £55,000 per annum - T his role is a four-day part-time position of 30 hours per week (£44,000 pro rata)

Person Specification

Education/ Training

  • Fully qualified UK based pharmacist with a clean GPhC record
  • Master’s (MPharm) Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualification in Independent Prescribing V300
  • Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or pharmacy practice or equivalentacy ( Desirable)
  • Active member of clinical / professional organisaion / network involved in pharmacy practice ( Desirable)
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society ( Desirable)

Experience

  • Experience of delivering high quality clinical pharmacy service in a primary care environment for a minimum 5 years
  • Experience of clinical work in a digital/virtual primary care environment for a minimum 2 years
