Our customers are universities and high schools and in most cases we’re working with staff in the alumni relations and fundraising office at these institutions. The value prop for them at a high level is simple - “Engage more alumni and raise more money from them”. 90%+ of our customers are from the US currently but we’re starting sales in UK and Canada this year so we’ll start to see some more customer regions this year. Our team is based in India and USA. The India team is based in Bangalore and the US team is fully remote.

The Opportunity:

Almabase is expanding and evolving, and we need dynamic DevOps Engineers to help us make our product offerings more reliable and scalable as we enter new markets. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to grow alongside our company.

As a DevOps Engineer at Almabase, you’ll be an integral part of our engineering team, working on projects that directly impact our mission. You will collaborate closely with other developers, product managers, and designers to build scalable, high-quality software solutions. Your daily work will involve:

• Infrastructure Optimization: Monitor and optimize our infrastructure for peak performance, ensuring a seamless user experience.

• DevOps Pipeline Development: Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.

• Process Automation: Identify opportunities to automate and improve development and release processes, reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency.

• Security and Compliance: Identify and implement security measures to protect our systems and data, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

As a DevOps Engineer at Almabase, you core responsibility will be to enhance product reliability and efficiency which includes:

• Error Prevention: Develop tools and processes to proactively identify and prevent potential errors, ensuring minimal downtime.

• System Maintenance: Design and implement procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

• Incident Management: Conduct root cause analysis of any production errors and swiftly resolve technical issues.

• Technical Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues, leveraging your problem-solving skills to contribute to a seamless user experience.

• Collaboration: Work closely with software developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.

• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices, and apply this knowledge to your work.

Requirements:

• Min 1 Year of proven experience as a DevOps engineer or in a similar software engineering role as python based backend engineer.

• Familiarity with Linux, Python, Docker and Nginx.

• Familiarity with configuring and managing databases such as MySQL.

• Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues efficiently.

• Strong written communication skills.

What Does Your 1st Year Look Like at Almabase?

First Month:

• Get familiar with our products and development environment.

• Start your training and work on your first project.

• Understand our infrastructure and development processes.

By the 3rd Month:

• Be well-versed with the entire infrastructure setup.

• Contribute towards identifying slow queries and other infrastructure bottlenecks.

• Build a good rapport with your team.

By the 6th to 12th Month:

• Start performing Root Cause Analysis on any production issues and develop Standard Operating Procedures to handle similar incidents.

• Be a point of contact for technical queries related to server, security and database management.

• Actively contribute towards increasing the reliability and scalability of the product.
