Remote Director of Engineering

We're seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead and expand our engineering teams responsible for both front-end and back-end technologies. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll develop and lead the engineering vision and strategy, overseeing the growth and performance of multiple engineering teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Director or Head of Engineering)
• Proven experience managing engineering managers and multi-functional teams
• Strong background in Next.js and React, with hands-on experience managing headless Shopify sites
• Strong background in development in a Shopify ecosystem
• In-depth knowledge of backend technologies, particularly Ruby architecture.Experience integrating with third-party services and APIs to optimize customer experiences

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the engineering vision and strategy
• Directly manage two engineering managers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Lead the architecture, development, and deployment of high-impact systems
• Drive the evolution of engineering and scrum practices
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends
• Optimize resources, manage budgets, and prioritize projects
• Communicate technology strategies, project updates, and KPIs to executive leadership
