Remote Lead Backend Engineer (Python/Django)

Summary

Join our team as a skilled Python/Django developer to design, develop, and maintain web applications. This role is based in the Netherlands with relocation support and visa sponsorship provided.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a backend software developer
• Strong experience with Python and Django
• You have formally (with HR responsibilities) or informally (mentoring) led an engineering team before
• Proven experience with architecting/designing and refactoring software systems
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Experience with Git and version control
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Good communication skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or in a team

Responsibilities

• Take ownership and lead the effort for (re)building and maintaining the Django backend
• Collaborate with the rest of the development team to design and implement new features
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
• Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the Python and Django communities
• Monitor production environments for performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
