Job description

Work & Co (work.co) solves complex problems and drives businesses forward —through end-to-end strategy, design and development of their core digital products. With a team of over 500 people and offices in the United States, Latin America, and Europe, we’ve become the go-to partner for IKEA, Google, Apple, Gatorade, PGA TOUR, Mercedes, MTA, Planned Parenthood, and more. As Fast Company noted, our engineering and design teams are routinely entrusted with creating digital products for companies which rarely approach outside firms. Forrester Research calls our approach “a model to follow.”

We’re seeking a freelance Machine Learning Engineer to join our Technology team with Knowledge Graph experience. This person will be a pioneer in shaping unique product features, enhancing user interactions, and building the backbone AI platform.

What You Will Do

  • A driven developer ready to extend the current product for a new user type: healthcare professionals (HCPs), focusing on enhancing the overall user experience.
  • Equipped to enhance answer quality by establishing foundations tailored to HCP areas, developing a knowledge graph that connects key focus points to deliver relevant factual insights.
  • Skilled in gathering and organizing domain specific information to create a comprehensive database of facts.
  • Collaborative team player, working alongside an existing knowledge graph team and subject matter experts to improve the product’s relevance and effectiveness.
  • A detail-oriented developer, ready to enhance the relevance and accuracy of responses within HCP-focused domains by refining foundational elements for improved user experience.
  • Build pre-processing steps such as classifiers, maintenance scripts, and evaluation experiments.
  • Equipped to expand the existing knowledge graph, building connections between key focus areas to gather and structure critical information, facts, and insights that empower healthcare professionals.

We Are Looking For

  • Experience with databases, bonus points if they are graph databases.
  • An accomplished data scientist, eager to apply statistical analysis and machine learning to uncover insights and drive data-driven solutions.
  • A curious researcher, committed to exploring emerging technologies and trends to enhance business outcomes and stay ahead of the curve.
  • A proficient Python developer, dedicated to crafting clean, maintainable code that efficiently solves complex problems.
  • Adept in navigating the AWS ecosystem, optimizing services like S3, Lambda, Sagemaker to power effective cloud-based solutions.
  • Accustomed to writing and maintaining unit tests, ensuring high code quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • A proactive communicator, engaging with clients multiple times daily to ensure clarity and alignment on project objectives.
  • A collaborative team player, working alongside project managers, designers, and developers to create a cohesive environment for effective project execution.
  • Available from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST, using standard communication channels (Slack, Zoom, Teams, Email, etc.) to maintain connectivity.

The base pay for the Machine Learning Engineer Contractor role is between $90/hour and $100/hour. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, such as: experience, knowledge, skills, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
