Summary

Join sweetgreen’s Automation Team as a Manufacturing Engineer to play a key role in expanding the deployment of Infinite Kitchens.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware R&D or manufacturing, and at least 2 years as a Manufacturing Engineer with an emphasis on the assembly and testing of complex, large-format industrial equipment
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standard instruments and practices used to inspect mechanical components
  • Extensive familiarity with commonly used fabrication processes including CNC Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal fabrication, Wire/Cable, Welding, Casting, Printed Circuit Board fabrication and assembly
  • Extensive familiarity with enterprise product change management tools (PDM & PLM), and industry-standard change control (ECO) processes
  • Proficiency with mechanical CAD software tools, Solidworks preferred
  • Familiarity with standards of mechanical documentation including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support as-needed to execute design changes, deviations, and reworks, to resolve manufacturing issues and clear blockers to our production schedule
  • Initiate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
  • Create redlines to part and assembly drawings, and implement edits as-needed to 3D and 2D CAD files
  • Work with key stakeholders at contract manufacturers for the IK to ensure that the planning of procurement and assembly activities supports Sweetgreen’s business needs
  • Improve the assembly process for the Infinite Kitchen: You will have ownership to propose, test, and implement assembly process changes that improve the throughput and reliability of IK manufacturing
  • Design, prototype, and implement mechanical jigs and fixtures to achieve the above
  • Work with stakeholders in quality engineering to define requirements and processes for incoming material inspection
  • Support component-level Design For Manufacture (DFM) efforts by proposing changes to the Design Engineering Team and supporting validation and implementation
