Requirements

  • Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware
  • Experience in troubleshooting servers, networking devices, and data center equipment
  • Familiarity with IT hardware concepts such as RAID, SAN, X86 Architecture, Linux/Unix boot processes, and file systems
  • Knowledge of network device configurations and directory structures
  • Proficiency in Linux administration and ability to run Linux commands
  • Minimum 5+ years working in an IT environment, with 5+ years of data center experience
  • Inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts
  • 2- or 4-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Experience with Sun servers is a plus
  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar are required
  • Additional certification from Oracle is desired

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair data center hardware, including servers, storage, and networking equipment
  • Manage rack installation, cabling, and powering up servers in a data center environment
  • Oversee the full decommission lifecycle of data center hardware and inventory management
  • Manage and maintain Oracle systems, ensuring optimal performance and system integrity
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues, ensuring continuous uptime and service availability
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery processes to safeguard critical data
  • Monitor data center environments using appropriate tools and respond to issues in a ticketing environment
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and system documentation
  • Keep track of asset inventory and update systems accordingly
  • Work closely with provisioning teams and internal Oracle Cloud service owners to ensure smooth system handoff and coordination
  • Participate in 24/7/365 shift schedules, ensuring proper handovers and timely responses to critical incidents
  • Communicate clearly and escalate issues to senior staff and management when necessary
  • Perform basic power supply installations, troubleshooting, and repair of data center equipment
  • Contribute to small-scale data center projects independently and support larger initiatives with management
