Requirements
- Significant and recent experience with AWS or GCP
- Experience with observability tools for metrics, log aggregation and request tracing
- Ability to devise telemetry data that is correlated with actual customer outcomes
- Inβdepth understanding of Terraform
- Working knowledge of Javascript and Node.js
- Passion for helping teams to deliver reliable and observable software
- Database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Google Datastore, BigQuery
- An understanding of modern cloud architecture patterns
- Focus on pragmatic delivery, able to take ownership and initiative to balance constraints
- Strong communication skills, builds great colleague relationships across disciplines
Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing and maintaining cloud infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services, using Terraform and good Infrastructure-as-Code practices
- Developing and maintaining tools and shared libraries to maximise reliability and observability of the software and services we run, using Node.js as the primary language
- Supporting software engineers with tasks and investigations involving infrastructure and during incidents
- Advise and consult with other squads on cloud infrastructure and reliability matters to help them maximise their impact
- Uphold and implement compliance and security best practices
- Leveraging best practices in continuous integration and delivery to drive an experimentation-based learning culture and iterate on product objectives
- Collaborating across disciplines to build effective working relationships, solve challenging problems for our users, and drive positive business outcomes
- Working with engineering leadership to create an empowered, ambitious and diverse engineering culture with a strong care for craft
- Participating in an off-hours on-call rotation to support the ongoing reliable operation of our systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within an event-sourcing architecture
- Experience with rapid application development techniques such as trunk-based development, automated testing at all levels and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience with messaging technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Web application development experience using React
