Senior Character Concept Artist

Summary

Join 1047 Games, a remote company creating a new shooter in the Splitgate universe. We're looking for a passionate FPS game concept artist to collaborate with the Art Director and other artists. You will design character concepts, create functional concept art for production, and work with various departments to ensure artistic and technical success. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in traditional arts, a portfolio meeting AAA industry standards, and excellent communication skills. Previous concept art experience is required. This role involves iterative design, collaboration, and meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• Ability to iterate on concepts with feedback from the Art Director and Senior/Lead concept artists
• Professional attitude, listening skills and an ability to take constructive criticism
• Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including, but not limited to, figure drawing, landscape painting, graphic design and illustration
• Self-driven, good communicator and a great team-player
• A portfolio that meets or exceeds industry standard for AAA concept art
• A holistic design mindset and willingness to learn
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience as a concept artist

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Art Director and Concept Artists to produce designs that meet the established art direction
• Create functional concept art for use by production artists
• Create thumbnails, sketches, model sheets and Material call-outs
• Create strong player fantasies through cosmetic skins
• Work with Animation and Tech Art departments to discuss production needs and technical logistics to create artistic solutions
• Collaborate with 3D Artists by providing paint-overs
• Work closely with production to deliver quality artwork on time
• Contribute original visual designs throughout pre-production and production
• Solve gameplay problems with visual solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 3d software
• Experience with Unreal engine
• Shipped game titles
