Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or another related field
- 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or other related fields
- Proficient with SQL, Python, and C++ or similar to analyze large data sets coming out of hardware systems
- Excellent critical and analytical thinking skills: you can interpret what the data is telling us, and which analyses will reveal impactful conclusions
- Fluent in data-based and analytical engineering problem solving practices, including using paretos, root cause analysis, and more
- Proficient in statistics and probability
- Ability to understand complex technical systems
- Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity
- Prioritize while maintaining the tasks at hand
- Strong technical and nontechnical communication skills
Responsibilities
- Define requirements, metrics, and simulation testing to validate safe, legal, and comfortable Autonomous Vehicle operations
- Perform analysis of Autonomous Vehicle driving behaviors to characterize vehicle systems performance, validate systems engineering requirements, influence development of the autonomy stack, and enable release and launch decisions by developing simulation testing and on road monitoring
- Apply risk management tools and methodologies to drive decision making
- Combine experience in Systems Engineering and data analysis to facilitate data driven design, validation, risk analysis, and prioritization decisions
- Lead and communicate data analyses, trade studies, and safety analysis that provide teams with all the information needed to develop and continuously improve the systems function and performance
- Develop methods to analyze and compare the impact of software changes on top level systems engineering requirements
- Develop long-term and stable requirements, verification/validation, and/or software solutions to advanced problems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, vehicle development or ADAS development
- Experience building data pipelines and familiarity with ETL software such as DBT or Airflow
- Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Looker or Jupyter notebooks
- Industry experience in system engineering and requirements management including system analysis, requirements authoring, test generation, and validation activities
- Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, DNG, DOORS, etc.)
- Proven track record of successful systems engineering for a safety-critical product
