Remote Senior UX Engineer

Requirements

• Expertise in writing clean, maintainable frontend code using modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js
• Proven experience developing accessible, user-centered web applications that comply with WCAG standards
• A demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train others, with a passion for UX growth and building organizational and team capacity
• Solid understanding of how frontend systems interact with backend services, and the ability to collaborate effectively with full-stack engineers
• Ability to work successfully within a professional services environment (e.g., can communicate effectively with clients)
• Passionate about creating better public outcomes through great government services
• A mindset and work approach that aligns with our core values
• Ability to travel for work from time to time

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and develop high-quality user experiences as part of a cross-functional team
• Champion lean-agile engineering principles, such as simple design, continuous integration, version control, and automated testing
• Create accessible, user-centered interfaces that comply with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards
• Strengthen UX and accessibility design expertise across DHS by leading enablement activities such as coaching, pairing, and developing best-practice guides
• Evaluate and improve systems by identifying opportunities for enhancement, with a focus on user experience, accessibility, and security
