Researcher, Developer Tools

Summary

Join Figma's Research team as a seasoned researcher embedded with the Developer Tools team. You will drive scale, identify new opportunities, and ensure Figma continues innovating in production tooling. Partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering, you'll tackle high-impact problems, influencing company strategy. This full-time role can be based in a US hub or remotely within the US (EST hours). You will leverage your expertise to deliver strategic recommendations, influence product decisions, and advocate for research's role. Figma offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in UX research or user insights at a high growth B2B SaaS company
• Previous experience working on developer tools or technical products with similar scale and complexity as Figma
• Expertise in utilizing a variety of research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative techniques, to address product challenges spanning from opportunity identification, concept testing, to feature iterations
• Demonstrated success in identifying assumptions that underpin key challenges, and creating right sized research approaches to test those critical assumptions
• Ability to balance speed and rigor, pivot directions, seek out new perspectives, receive feedback, and seek solutions in creative ways
• A proven track record of gaining buy in from executive stakeholders and cross disciplinary partners, transcending mere research mechanics and findings to articulate a larger user story, and the “so what” to inspire action
• Ability to balance user research, strategy, business insights, team input, and intuition in decision-making processes

Responsibilities

• Help Figma grow and innovate by delivering strategic recommendations and materially influencing the vision and strategy across Figma’s current and future products
• Partner closely with product leads, designers, and engineers and serve as an expert in developer tooling, workflows, and needs
• Break down complex business challenges into clear research plans; own the end to end research process to identify key opportunity areas and deliver meaningful impact to Figma’s business
• Leverage your product mindset and storytelling chops to influence product decisions, directly impacting product roadmaps
• Advocate for the role of Research as a strategic partner in the business process, proactively identifying and prioritizing research for Developer Tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in front-end development, comfortability or interest in writing and reviewing code
• A familiarity and depth of experience using Figma’s products
