Summary

This hybrid role, based in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, or Portland (remote), focuses on managing revenue and royalty financial reporting, reconciliation, and month-end close processes. You will partner with royalties departments to streamline processes, act as a bridge between operational and accounting teams, and implement process improvements. The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with large datasets, and proficiency in Excel. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a CPA or in internal operational accounting, royalty industry preferred
  • Highly proficient in Excel by leveraging formulas to build efficient workpapers that are integral to repeatable processes, and have the ability to train others how to use the workpapers
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing reconciliations on the datasets to ensure key information can easily be summarized and extracted
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic high-growth environment
  • Strong organization and communication skills, with the ability to work well cross-functionally
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to ask thoughtful questions and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Curious and solutions focused with the ability to contribute to process improvements
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high quality and consistent work product

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the royalties departments to streamline revenue recognition, high volume royalty distribution, and reporting processes
  • Become the bridge between the royalties operation teams and the financial US GAAP accounting departments to properly translate the royalty activity and appropriately capture financial statement impacts
  • Review current revenue recognition processes, and implement process improvements to improve the efficiency and timeliness of the close and reporting
  • Support financial reporting teams with month-end journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules of accounts impacted by these processes (i.e. Revenue Accruals, Royalties Payable and Advances)
  • Develop additional analysis related to key accounts/reconciliations to identify business insights and performance measures
  • Ensure key royalty processing systems are properly implemented and accomplishing the necessary operational objectives across operating entities (Microsoft Dynamics, Netsuite, Trolley)
  • Develop key reporting necessary for audit support and proper internal control reconciliations on the royalty P&L and balance sheet accounts
  • Ensure accounts receivable processes are properly managed and receivable balance information is accurately provided to financial reporting team
  • Over time, expand expertise and partner with other Operating Companies in the Downtown Group to help create and manage a first in class financial operations organization
