Summary

The job description is for a trainee Professional Accountant position at a chartered accountants firm in Pretoria. Requirements

• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be very comfortable with, and have a general understanding of, computers and software, with an ability to learn new software quickly
• Have a working knowledge of Word and Excel
• Have solid analytical ability and work well under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality of work
• Be deadline-driven and able to work independently without constant supervision
• Have a strong desire to learn and develop in the position in line with furthering your traineeship
• Great bill of health, both physically and mentally
• Be studying towards or possessing a BCom Degree or similar qualification
• Valid Driver’s license (will be a great advantage) and own reliable transport

Responsibilities

• Capture transactions in accounting records
• Perform reconciliations
• Perform bookkeeping to trial balance
• Interpreting clients’ accounting records and compiling annual financial statements (IFRS for SME’)
• Performed tax calculations and completed income tax returns and provisional tax returns
• Perform VAT and PAYE calculations to submit returns on E-filing
• Assist Accountants with various client matters, including administrative work
• Resolve queries
• Performing tasks required in terms of the SAIPA competency framework
• Any other tasks related to the role

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Draftworx, Xero, and Pastel is advantageous but not required
