Requirements

• Detailed knowledge of key scientific topics, including nature, space, health, and Earth sciences
• Interest in U.S. politics
• Significant experience in an editing role covering scientific topics for a reputable organization
• Experience managing a team of reporters
• Capable of working to tight deadlines
• Strong understanding of digital journalism and the needs of a fast-paced newsroom
• Ability to use social media and search platforms to identify trends and conceive original articles for an American audience

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of reporters and ensure high-quality coverage
• Pitch, research, and assign original stories and features
• Edit copy to ensure content meets Newsweek’s expected quality standards
• Write articles if required and lead testing and scientific investigations
• Build academic partnerships and perform any other reasonable duties as necessary
