Security Intern

Summary

Requirements

• Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• Technical Skills: Basic understanding of networking and operating systems
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information

Responsibilities

• Support Security Operations: Assist in monitoring security alerts and incidents using security information and event management (SIEM) systems
• Help investigate and analyze security breaches and incidents
• Vulnerability Assessment: Participate in vulnerability scans and assessments of networks, systems, and applications
• Assist in identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities
• Security Policy and Compliance: Support the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures
• Help ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS
• Threat Intelligence: Assist in gathering and analyzing threat intelligence to understand emerging threats and attack vectors
• Help develop strategies to mitigate identified threats
• Security Awareness Training: Contribute to the creation and delivery of security awareness programs for employees
• Assist in educating staff about phishing, social engineering, and other common security threats
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of security incidents and responses
• Help document security configurations, processes, and procedures
• Research and Development: Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies
• Assist in researching new security tools and technologies that can enhance the organization's security posture

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) is a plus
• Strong interest in cybersecurity and eagerness to learn
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience: Previous internship or coursework in cybersecurity or related areas is beneficial but not required
