Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, etc.) or equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of web accessibility principles and standards, including WCAG 2.1
- 7-10 years of experience with assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools
- Familiarity with disability types and challenges, and the ability to simulate various user experiences
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate accessibility issues
- Due to the nature of the work we support, all candidates in consideration for this role must be U.S. Citizens willing to undergo the government issued background investigation process
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough accessibility testing on websites, applications, documents, and other digital content to identify potential accessibility barriers
- Use assistive technologies (screen readers, magnification tools, keyboard navigation, etc.) to simulate the experience of users with disabilities
- Review and interpret accessibility guidelines, including WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and other relevant standards
- Collaborate with development and design teams to provide feedback and recommendations for making digital products accessible
- Document and report accessibility issues, detailing the problems and suggesting potential solutions
- Create and execute test plans for accessibility testing, covering a wide range of disabilities and use cases
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in accessibility technologies
- Participate in training sessions or workshops to educate colleagues about accessibility standards and practices
- Conduct periodic audits of digital assets to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of programming languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their impact on accessibility is a plus
- Relevant certifications in accessibility testing or web development are advantageous
