Senior Accessibility Consultant

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, etc.) or equivalent work experience
• Strong understanding of web accessibility principles and standards, including WCAG 2.1
• 7-10 years of experience with assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools
• Familiarity with disability types and challenges, and the ability to simulate various user experiences
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate accessibility issues
• Due to the nature of the work we support, all candidates in consideration for this role must be U.S. Citizens willing to undergo the government issued background investigation process

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough accessibility testing on websites, applications, documents, and other digital content to identify potential accessibility barriers
• Use assistive technologies (screen readers, magnification tools, keyboard navigation, etc.) to simulate the experience of users with disabilities
• Review and interpret accessibility guidelines, including WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and other relevant standards
• Collaborate with development and design teams to provide feedback and recommendations for making digital products accessible
• Document and report accessibility issues, detailing the problems and suggesting potential solutions
• Create and execute test plans for accessibility testing, covering a wide range of disabilities and use cases
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in accessibility technologies
• Participate in training sessions or workshops to educate colleagues about accessibility standards and practices
• Conduct periodic audits of digital assets to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of programming languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their impact on accessibility is a plus
• Relevant certifications in accessibility testing or web development are advantageous
