
Senior Agile Project Manager

Join CALSTART, a mission-driven organization dedicated to transportation decarbonization and clean air, as a Project Manager for a 3-month 1099 contract with the potential for extension. You will oversee software development and data-focused projects within the Data Insights and Analytics (DnA) team, specifically targeting medium- and heavy-duty EVs, buses, and innovative mobility solutions. This role involves leading day-to-day coordination of HVIP voucher processing projects, managing project workflows, running team meetings, and ensuring strong cross-team collaboration. You will play a key part in delivering the next phase of HVIP program success by managing project scope, timelines, and budgets, aligning team resources, documenting requirements and policy changes, and synthesizing data outputs for internal and external stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful transportation software solutions and accelerate California's transition to zero-emission vehicles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, specifically in software development projects, with a focus on data-driven initiatives
- Strong experience with project management methodologies (especially Agile) and tools like Jira
- Proven ability to manage project scope, budget, and timelines across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems, data analytics platforms, and software development processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to guide teams through complex projects and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience facilitating meetings and driving alignment across departments
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights
- Capable of balancing technical requirements with business goals to ensure successful project outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements, ensuring continuous enhancement of workflows and project delivery
- Experience engaging with external stakeholders, including government agencies or partners in the transportation sector, and communicating project findings or technical requirements clearly and effectively
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage electric vehicle voucher processing projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with the organization’s goals
- Support software development efforts and data collection to enhance project outcomes
- Work closely with the Data Insights and Analytics (DnA) team, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to coordinate across multiple teams and departments, ensuring smooth execution of project tasks
- Utilize the Agile framework and Jira to track project progress, run sprints, facilitate daily stand-ups, and manage the backlog
- Ensure that teams stay on task and that roadblocks are quickly identified and removed
- Capture and maintain detailed documentation of policy changes, technical requirements, and project status
- Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and accessible for both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Regularly interact with external stakeholders, including government agencies and transportation industry partners, to gather feedback, share data insights, and disseminate project findings to drive market acceleration for electric vehicles
- Identify opportunities to streamline project processes, improve team collaboration, and increase efficiency through Agile practices, meeting facilitation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Guide and mentor team members, ensuring alignment on roles and responsibilities, while promoting a positive and results-driven team environment
- Work alongside the Business Analyst to ensure that all technical requirements are well-defined and met
- Analyze and synthesize project data and outcomes, presenting findings to stakeholders to help influence policy decisions and market strategies for sustainable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is preferred
- Agile or Scrum certifications are a plus
- Experience working within the electric vehicle or sustainability sector is highly desirable
- Experience managing projects that involve data collection and analysis is a strong advantage
