Summary

You will be part of the image processing and data science team, driving the development of higher-level image data products. This role involves designing and implementing AI models, preprocessing image datasets, performing model training and validation, and collaborating with remote sensing experts. The position requires expertise in machine learning, geospatial analysis, and cloud computing. Ideally, you will be based in Germany, France, or Belgium, but remote work is possible with occasional travel. Requirements

  • PhD or MSc with equivalent research experience in satellite remote sensing, geospatial analysis, machine learning, or statistics
  • Professional experience in applying data science techniques to spatial and/or Earth observation datasets
  • Professional experience in data science/data engineering
  • Knowledge of supervised, unsupervised, and/or reinforcement learning algorithms and their application in satellite image data proficiency in data science frameworks such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, and Scikit-image
  • Experience with geospatial libraries like rasterio, xarray, rioxarray, and geopandas
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) for large-scale data processing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the AI model to contribute to constellr’s LST product
  • Preprocess and clean the image dataset for training/modelling preparation
  • Perform training, fine running, data validation, testing
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the nuances in image-based machine learning model performance, collaborating with remote sensing experts to improve data and model quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team, understanding the product requirements and translate them into technical workflows and deliverables
  • Ensure data quality and create clear documentation
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in contributing to EO product development
  • Experience with data assimilation
  • Experience with AI model deployment in cloud environments
  • Publications in EO/ML field
  • Experience with startup environments
