Summary

Join Contentful's Product Analytics team as an experienced Analytics Engineer. Build and maintain analytics pipelines using dbt, SQL, and other tools to deliver actionable user insights. Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to create robust data integrations with platforms like Salesforce, Gainsight, JIRA, and GitHub. Your work will directly impact product strategy and customer engagement. Take ownership of analytics projects, from initial scoping to final implementation. Transform and manage product adoption datasets, ensuring efficient data access. Develop and manage data pipelines for exporting and ingesting data using reverse ETL tools and other technologies. Collaborate on event schema management in Segment to ensure data quality.

Requirements

  • Analytics Engineering Experience: 5+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer or similar role
  • Data modeling and transformation: Expert in building scalable, maintainable analytics pipelines using dbt, SQL, and Jinja for effective data modeling and transformation
  • Query performance optimization: Skilled at optimizing datasets for fast, efficient querying in enterprise-scale data warehouses such as AWS Redshift
  • Reverse ETL and integrations: Practical knowledge of reverse ETL tools like Hightouch for delivering curated datasets to systems including Salesforce and Gainsight
  • Event Data Management: Adept at working with product event dataโ€”defining schemas, validating inputs, and transforming raw events into structured analytics-ready formats
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Confident when engaging with analysts, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights

Responsibilities

  • Analytics Pipelines & Data Modeling: Convert existing product analyst queries and reports into efficient and maintainable analytics pipelines primarily using dbt, and optimize data for self-service analytics in Tableau
  • Owning Analytics Projects: Take ownership of medium-to-large analytics projects, from scoping through implementation
  • Product Event Data: Transform and maintain scalable product adoption datasets, ensuring ease of downstream integration and rapid onboarding of new events or features
  • Data Egestion: Develop and manage data pipelines for exporting curated datasets from Redshift to platforms like Salesforce and Gainsight using reverse ETL tools (e.g., Hightouch)
  • Data Ingestion: Own end-to-end responsibility for ingesting key productivity data from platforms such as GitHub and JIRA into the data warehouse, enabling accurate internal reporting and analysis
  • Event Schema Management: Collaborate closely with Software Engineers and Product Analysts to define, manage, and approve event schemas in Segment, ensuring high-quality data

Preferred Qualifications

  • BI tooling and performance: Well-versed in BI platforms such as Tableau, with a focus on optimizing underlying data structures for dashboard performance
  • Ingestion and orchestration tools: Skilled in using pipeline orchestration and data ingestion tools such as Airflow and Stitch, along with Python scripting for integrating diverse data sources
  • Large-scale data processing: Proficient with distributed query engines like AWS Athena or SparkSQL for working with datasets at the scale of billions of rows
  • Event streaming data: Experienced in working with live streamed event data, including transforming and modeling real-time inputs for analytics pipelines
  • LLMs and unstructured data: Able to apply LLM APIs and vector databases to analyze unstructured inputs, including customer call transcripts
  • Testing and containerization: Comfortable using Docker for local pipeline testing and writing comprehensive dbt tests for analytics workflows
