Senior Android Software Engineer

Summary

Join Reddit's Emerging Markets product team and contribute to the international growth of this popular platform. You will design, build, and ship features for millions of users, working closely with product managers and designers to create compelling user experiences. This role requires significant experience in Android mobile native application development using Java or Kotlin. You will be involved in the entire development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, and will collaborate effectively within a fully remote team. Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of post-internship, full-time, hands-on, professional software development experience developing user-facing Android mobile native applications at scale, using Java or Kotlin
• You’re a champion of software engineering best practices such as unit/integration/end-to-end testing, design documents, CI/CD, A/B testing, code reviews, and documentation
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule
• Excellent communication skills. You collaborate effectively with teams in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with modern Android development frameworks such as Jetpack Compose and Kotlin coroutines
• You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure. You have a strong drive to create value, whether for users or the company

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship features, experiments and products for millions of users to support our international growth
• Communicate effectively, within the team and across disciplines. Work closely with product managers and designers to craft compelling user experiences

• Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs
• Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks
• Participate with a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help mentor engineers on the team to grow their technical expertise
• Continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical abilities

Preferred Qualifications

Additional knowledge around GraphQL, REST, HTTP basics, and the ability to design maintainable APIs is a plus
